How LiftMonkey handles your media and your rights.
The short version
LiftMonkey is a pass-through, not an archive. You paste a URL, we fetch the media, and it gets to you (or your storage) — we don't keep a copy and we don't re-host it for anyone else.
Personal, non-commercial use
LiftMonkey is provided for personal archiving of media you have the right to save — for example, content you created, content shared publicly that you want to keep for personal reference, or content you otherwise have permission to download.
The service is not licensed for commercial redistribution, bulk collection, re-hosting, or any use that interferes with the source platform. If what you want to do with the media doesn't fit that description, LiftMonkey isn't the right tool.
What we store and for how long
- Your account. Email, password (hashed), and preferences — kept while the account is active.
- Your history. The URLs you pasted and the resulting extraction metadata. Default retention is 30 days; older records are automatically purged.
- Your destinations. Connector type, API URL, and encrypted API key — kept until you delete the destination.
- The media itself. Only a transient working copy, for the time it takes to deliver it to your device or your cloud destination. Not archived.
What LiftMonkey doesn't do
- We don't cache media for other users or share it across accounts.
- We don't offer bulk or scheduled downloads. Each request is one URL you initiate.
- We don't sell or share your history.
Your responsibility
Each time you paste a URL, you confirm you have the right to save the content at that URL for personal, non-commercial use. If you don't hold that right, don't paste it.
You're also responsible for respecting the terms of service of the source platform (Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and the broadcast-news sites). LiftMonkey doesn't grant you rights under those platforms' terms — it helps you access media you're already permitted to access.
